CAJA DEL RIO

CAMPING SPOTS JUST A FEW MINUTES OUT OF TOWN.

You might know this area as one of the designated forests to find piñon trees around the holidays, but it has become one of our favorite spots to camp in a jiffy. Located just outside of Santa Fe, it's perfect for taking the van and dogs out for an impromptu overnights.

The entrance to the Caja del Rio area is unfortunately ravaged with litter, so we recommend heading at least ten minutes in towards the Rio Grande. Pick up a super handy map of the area at Rob & Charlie's Bike Shop off of St. Michaels Dr. in Santa Fe. With 4WD and that map you're in for a hell of an adventure!

We recommend bringing your mountain bike for a good bit of exploring on all the backroads winding through the area, and we recommend bringing gloves and trash bags to pick up any litter you may come across. We all have to work together right?

The Caja del Rio area is located northwest of Santa Fe off of Forest Road 24.
